ABOUT LEARNING CO

Hi! My name is Tayla Badenhorst, a passionate tutor dedicated to helping your child reach their academic goals using techniques that work best for them.

I am currently studying towards my teaching degree, specialising in Mathematics & Natural Sciences. I have hundreds of hours of tutoring experience as well as practical experience in a classroom. Over the years I have loved helping learners improve their confidence and understanding in Maths, Afrikaans, English & the Sciences on a 1-on-1 basis as it gives them the space to explore their own knowledge and understanding while tracking and celebrating their progress with an extra cheerleader in their corner.

I know that there are many factors that affect studying and academic performance and those factors differ from child to child. I strive to give my learners tailored, high-quality, academic support that supports them holistically to achieve results beyond just academic improvements and sets them up for a successful school career.

I believe that everyone can learn, we just need the time, space and means to do it. For this reason, I like to start my lessons off with a learning style assessment that I do with my learners so we can see what study methods and lesson approaches will wrk best for their brain and personality. They can then carry these skills with them throughout their schooling and tertiary education careers.

I also have experience in offering academic support for relocations and syllabus transitions to new schools and to the UK. I have noticed that when moving schools or countries, the main factors affecting learners are the fear of the unknown and a new place, as well as social factors like making new friends and fitting in, so having assistance on the academic side gives learners the space and support which allows them to focus on dealing with the emotional factors as their academic transition stressor is being taken care of.

I have been privileged enough to work with learners from a broad range of academic abilities, from learners needing gaps filled to learners who are bored in class and want to expand their minds with higher level work. I am also experienced in working with learners with ADHD, as well as learners who are on the Autism Spectrum.

I work with a small client base to ensure all learners and families receive all the necessary support and attention to help them thrive and improve their academic confidence.

I look forward to working with your family and improving your child's academic experience!
